G D Gray Dry Stone Construction Ltd

With over 20 years of experience, I am professionally qualified in the traditional craft of dry stone walling and since 2002, a DSWA Advanced Certificate Holder and Level 1 Instructor with the Dry Stone Walling Associated of Great Britain. I trained with a master craftsman and I am one of only two dry stone wallers in Scotland with the accreditation and quantity of work to support the DSWA in the Heritage Lottery funded apprenticeship scheme.

The DSWA is a self-governing charity dedicated to promoting the craft of dry stone walling through its nationally accredited craftsman certification scheme. They also run training courses and community projects. All registered professional wallers should work to the level of certification attained.

Further to this, I also volunteer with the West of Scotland Dry Stone Walling Association (WSDSWA) a local charity promoting the craft of dry stone walling through training courses and community projects. I assist in the training of novices, amateurs and professionals alike, project supervision and I serve as a Trustee.

Maintenance & Repair

Stone walls require very little maintenance, part of their nature is their unique ability to resettle. However, over time you may notice the odd stone knocked off or loosened by the weather - or a visitor!

We provide quality assured projects for the maintenance of agricultural dykes for farmers, estates, smallholdings, developers, foresty and environmental infrastructure.

Bespoke Builds

We can use our near two decades of traditional, dry stone techniques to build something truly unique for your home or business.

We work closely with clients to ensure your retaining wall, stone bench, raised beds, staircases, boundary walls, or whatever else you can dream of, is exactly how you wish it to be.
